It allows easy control of such tasks as file sharing, monitor settings, sound levels, and AppleTalk activity. By default, it takes the form of a strip of icons at the bottom left corner of the screen. You can collapse the strip by clicking the close box on the left or the head of the strip on the right. By clicking and dragging on the head, you can shrink or expand the size of the Control Strip.

The Control Strip is a user interface component introduced in the "classic" System 7 Macintosh operating system. It currently exists as part of the Touch Bar interface in macOS. The Control Strip was initially released in with the PowerBook series of notebook computers and the PowerBook Duo subnotebook computers, at that point shipping with System 7.
You can change settings that control which buttons are shown in the Touch Bar. For some apps, you can customize the Touch Bar so that it contains buttons for your favorite tasks in that app. For example, you can have the Touch Bar show just the expanded Control Strip or just app buttons. You can also change what happens when you press the Fn key on the keyboard.
